Coffs Harbour 30 June 2013

Sunday 30 June 2013

We drove to our accommodation, Nautilus Beachfront Villas and Spa, which was right on the beach. The villa looked good; it had two nice big bedrooms and two bathrooms. There were tennis courts, a pool, the largest undercover heated spa I’ve ever seen and an exercise room.

We had dinner at Pizza Hut  then watched The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Monday 1 July 2013

We slept in then read in bed for a while. When we finally got up, we went to the Clog Barn, a miniature Dutch Village. It was sort of cute and we had a nice lunch. Ash bought a huge sombrero, which probably wasn’t Dutch!

We then went to Solitary Islands Aquarium, which was located at Southern Cross University’s National Marine Science Centre. We saw tanks of beautiful marine fishes and watched a movie.

When we got back to our accommodation, we walked on the beach and then went in the spa. It was incredible; a great big square that heaps of people could fit into.

We went shopping at Park Beach Plaza for food then had leftover pizza for dinner.

Tuesday 2 July 2013

We went for a walk on the beach, then drove to Coffs Harbour Butterfly House. It was a pretty place to visit with a nice gift shop. We had lunch there.

After lunch, we went for a walk on Muttonbird Island. It was a lovely place to visit with spectacular views.

Back at our accommodation, Nick and I went for another walk on the beach while Tom and Ash played tennis. We had a long spa and cooked our dinner on our own barbecue.

Wednesday 3 July 2013

Nick and I went for a walk on the beach while Tom and Ash played tennis. We’re getting into a routine!

We went to the Big Banana for lunch and a look around. It’s not as big as it looked when I was a kid. We discovered Coffs Candy Kitchen and watched someone make hard rock candy. Of course, we bought lots!

We went to the Novotel but decided not to have a go on the Ozbobbles or Segway. They looked fun but we just enjoyed watching for a while. Instead we went on to Amart and Jaycar then got petrol.

As we drove back to our accommodation, we noticed Brontosaurus Pet Super Centre. We stopped to have a look and realised how much we missed our pets. We stopped again at the Big Banana to look in The Opal Centre. I love opals, but have never owned any, so I bought some earrings.

Back at our accommodation a cute dog called Woody appeared and played fetch with us.

Thursday 4 July 2013

Today we went for a drive inland. First stop was Bellingen, where we visited the Old Butter Factory. We looked at various leather and wood items and were very tempted to buy a fossil table. We had a yummy morning tea there.

We went on to Dorrigo to the Skywalk Lookout and saw a Wedge-tailed eagle .

P1010376

We walked along a trail, visited the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre and had lunch in the Canopy Cafe.

Back in Coffs, we went to the Park Beach Plaza again to do some shopping.

I went in the spa again. I loved going in it for at least an hour each evening.

Friday 5 July 2013

We went to the Dolphin Marine Magic (previously Pet Porpoise Pool) and got the Seal Kiss and Dolphin Kiss experience.

P1010482

It was lovely to be so close to the animals. We fed a seal and a little penguin. We looked at green turtles and had lunch there.

P1010457

In the afternoon, we went for a long walk on the beach while Tom and Ash played tennis.

We went to Hog’s Breath for dinner then I had yet another long spa!

Saturday 6 July 2013

Nick and I went to North Coast Regional Botanic Garden, which was a good place for a quiet walk. We saw a Brahminy Kite and various small birds.

P1010502

Tom and Ash stayed at the accommodation to play tennis. They said a Brahminy Kite went right over their court!

We finished the day as usual with a walk on the beach, barbecue, spa and movie.

Sunday 7 July 2013

We checked out and drove home. We decided to stop at Trial Bay Gaol at South West Rocks.

P1010549

It was really interesting and there was a great view from the top.

P1010580

We saw several Brahminy Kites along some rivers.
